Don't think the players from Deportivo, Mallorca, Getafe are easybeats, they are still 10x better than the normal Socceroo like say Aloisi or Carle. Players like Daniel Diaz from Getafe and new guy Aguero not to mention Demichelis and Fabricio Coloccini on their good day can work wonders. I watch these guys in la Liga as I'm a Spanish football enthusiast (I hate the EPL) and names like Lionel Messi may look good on paper but these other guys will be even more pumped to play for the NT, Messi probably won't even make the trip down same as a few others!

I wish I had tickets for this game.

I'm interested to see which Aussies comeback...the only home game this year (most didn't make Uruguay) and if they don't make it you wonder about the future of the national team..

After witnessing Argentina's attempt to win the Copa America, I'm glad to see some young faces in the squad for this friendly.

Just as Dunga wiped the slate clean for Brazil, Basille should have done the same and aimed to try to build a squad for the next World Cup, rather than try to win the CA.

At the end of the tournament, even Veron said that he is no longer the future of the team (mind you, I was in a waiting lounge at the airport in Buenos Aires with my flight scheduled to leave at midnight delayed by about 6 hours in the end - so I could easily have been hallicinatory at this stage, but I doubt it). And in saying this, it could also be said that the crop of old players (Zanetti, Crespo, Saviola) shouldn't be there. Their age makes them injury prone and a waste to have in a squad for a tournament.

I'm happy to see Romero's name there, he had a great U-20 tournament in Canada (at the same time as the CA, so they couldn't be in both squads). Aguero had a slow start in Canada, but once he settled in was unstoppable. I would've liked to see a couple more youngins in the squad - Maxi Moralez and Matias Cahais spring to mind - but hopefully they'll get their chances leading up to 2010.

More importantly, I'm looking forward to the Aussie squad!

P.S. Eamonn, I have obtained a ticket for this match now. :) I think you gave me an excuse to go! :P

hmmm the Aussie squad will be interesting

wonder if Kennedy will return, Scott MCDonald is doing well for Celtic

Aloisi isn't playing Viduka hums and ahs but surely 95,000 at the G should persuade him

many of the top Aussies haven't played a home game all year. They should come once a year...for the national team

and Arnold is still there...FFA really have no money to pay him out or get another coach

maybe when we get the $3 mill from the game we can get a coach

so I'm glad you bought a tcikets Cecilia..also interested that there were some left
