Another Canberran to represent Australia?

Many Canberrans will know Steve Hogg and the wonderful player he was...well this isn't about him!

Rather Kahlia Hogg, Steve's daughter, has made the Australian Under 17 Squad. Well done Kahlia.

Like famous Canberran footballing names, Milovanovic, Giampaolo, Valeri, Lustica and others it has to be in the genes......Release below.

ACTAS footballer’s named in Junior and Senior National Squads Football Federation Australia (FAA) has announced their U/17 national squad for a camp to be held in Brisbane from 13 -17 October, with ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS) trialling scholarship holder Kahlia Hogg being named in the squad.

Kahlia has been training with the ACTAS National Training Centre Program for the last 5 months and
was more recently offered a trial scholarship after discussions with the U/17 National Coach Gary
Phillips who wanted Kahlia to have the ‘opportunity to train in the best possible environment,
accelerating her education and enhancing her selection chances.’
The ACTAS and Canberra United W-League Head Coach Robbie Hooker says of her selection –

“Kahlia has benefited greatly from training with the ACTAS program. She was given an opportunity to
display her football skills and game awareness in the ACTAS team in a game against the U/17 National
squad a few weeks ago where Gary Phillips obviously liked what he saw.”

“Kahlia’s selection in the U/17 National squad continues the outstanding contribution of the ACTAS

Women’s Football Program at all national levels. “ Hooker also said.
In other news - National Head Coach Tom Sermanni has named his Westfield Matilda’s squad for the
ASEAN Women’s Football Championships to be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 9 - 21
October. The squad includes three ACTAS and ACTAS/AIS Scholarship Holders.
