6+5= Correct! Even Sepp Blatter gets it.!
Sepp Blatter the FIFA President doesn't do much for me..usually....but he wants to introduce a new rule: At any given time 6 foreigners and 5 locals can play in an EPL and other national league sides.
Jesse Fink from SBS thinks he's wrong but I can't imagine there are any local fans in the World who would disagree.
The game has gone mad. Foreign imports galore, sometimes a whole team and then some.
And who doesn't get sick of the same old teams winning the same old leagues and even the Champions League is beginning to feel the same. How many new teams ever get into the last 16?
(And remember I support Celtic. A team which won the European Cup in 1967. All players were born within 30 miles of Glasgow!)
6+5 has to be good for all fans, all clubs and the future of the game in general. We need national if not local content at each club. So Sepp I'm on your side.
Also: As the J-League becomes the EPL of Asia this rule could help the A-League and other "lesser" leagues down the years as more Aussies stay home for longer.....so bring it on...NOW.

i'm not so sure i agree with you. as fink points out, since when did the international brands like man u, real madrid, etc and wanna-bes like sydney fc have a moral obligation towards nationalism. while with super mac in the line-up i'm also keen to see celtic keep winning everything, as a hearts fan i'd rather see them triumph. what i mean is, while you may ask 'who wants to see the same teams keep winning?' - the answer of course is the same teams and their (growing number of) fans.
when canberra gets an a-league i'm sure you'd not be disappointed if we can by some freak attract a coterie of internationals and win the league, would you?
where do you draw the line? why is five the right no.? perhaps we could see some discussion on the details?
Astrojax if Canberra win the league they may well have four foreign players but it will be a sad day if the team/squad doesn't have a good share of local talent.
And of course Celtic fans want to see their team continue to win..but the other teams, (including Rangers) would like to see their teams win occasionally.
Nationalism poo..five or six foreigners in a starting line-up means in England Man Utd can still afford to have 15 foreigners on their books...
but really Evra, Van Der Sar, Berbatov, Giggs, O'Shea, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, Anderson, Nani how many play in any one game? United are not the worst culprits by a long way..but I reckon most local fans, in any country, would agree that the way ahead is more from the country and less from abroad.
Why?
If you go to England and see the kids all desperate to play for these teams, in many cases their local teams...why do so few ever get a chance?
It's time to bring a bit of the real joy and variability back into the game and give local kids a chance.
And who knows Hearts might even win something one day...surely that has to be a worthy goal..at the moment they haven't a hope in hell in the next 30 years and Champions League...well they will never get a chance will they at this rate...NEVER EVER..and is that good for football?
